Journey
Sezen Aksu, born Fatma Sezen Yıldırım on July 13, 1954,
was the daughter of a mother from a fam ly that m grated
from Thessalon k to Turkey and a father from R ze. She was
born n Sarayköy, Den zl , and moved w th her fam ly to
Izm r when she was three years old. Her nterest n art
man fested at an early age. She took lessons n pa nt ng,
theater, and dance. Dur ng th s per od, she ga ned
attent on for her rebell ous personal ty and even dreamed
of becom ng a belly dancer. Later, she jok ng sa d, "God
had mercy on my father, so I became a s nger."
After graduat ng from Izm r G rls' H gh School, she
enrolled n Ege Un vers ty’s Faculty of Agr culture but left
the un vers ty to pursue a career n mus c.
